Treat your guests with delicious homemade salsas and guacamole! This beautifully crafted 7'' round mortar and pestle set is just right for you.
  • UNIQUE - Beautifully handcrafted from top-quality volcanic rock by one of Mexico's most skilled artisans. Due to the nature of stone carving, there may be small variations in each piece, adding to their handmade, slightly imperfect charm. Created from solidified lava, Jalisco's volcanic rock is recognized worldwide for its properties.
  • HEAVY AND DURABLE - 7'' round mortar with included pestle. Because of the natural characteristics of the volcanic rock, it is ideal for grinding, in addition to it's resistance to heat. Perfect for use in the oven to cook or gratin your best dishes.
  • SERVING/CUTTING BOARD INCLUDED - 100% Parota wood base, custom-made to further enhance your gourmet dishes and protect surfaces. Doubles as a gorgeous serving board to display cheese, bread, cured meats, fruits and much more. Seasoned with beeswax for protection and shine, the bottom can be used as a durable cutting board.
  • VERSATILITY - Use it as a centerpiece to present your hot or cold dishes such as guacamole, cheese gratin, cuts of meat in stew, salsas and more. It is also a useful kitchen tool to grind and crush spices, herbs, salt, coffee beans, and prepare countless authentic dishes, bringing out the full flavor and aroma of all the cooking ingredients.

Caring for your Mexican Blown Glassware

(some advice from an expert ...)

Because blown glassware is affected by heat, water and cold temperatures, many customers ask if it is safe to put their Mexican stemware in the dishwasher. Speaking from personal experience, I have been putting my Mexican blown glassware in the dishwasher for years, and I can promise that my mother, and grandmother have done the same.

My only observation is that since I have hard water, and the glassware is so durable, a film of calcium can build up after years of dishwashing. However, I do recommend hand washing blown glass pitchers, to protect their handles, and to better clean their steeply curved interiors.

Never serve hot liquids in Mexican glassware. Quick changes in temperature can cause the glassware to crack. Dishwashers build and lower temperature gradually, whereas rapidly filling a Mexican blown glassware pitcher with hot brewed tea will certainly result in a crack. Only fill your blown glassware with cold or room temperature liquids.

Blue Rim Mexican blown glassware is the most durable variety of Mexican glassware. With normal usage, pieces can last up to 20 years.

Mexican glassware does not bounce, so please refrain from dropping them! I have only replenished my shelf of Mexican glassware once in my 23 year marriage. Once my children got older, we seemed to have less glassware breakage.
